Practice focusing on how you are seeing proportion. Use a tool such your pencil to get exact angles and lengths. Close one eye and use the end of your pencil to see how long are the lines and shadows you need to draw. Squint or close one eye to see your shadows clearer. Always begin light then work in your darks after you are satisfied. You also can use the grid method. That is draw a number of connected squares on the reference photo and find your proportions that way by seeing where each section or region of the head, face, and body is place on the grid. Draw in another grid on your page and draw into the squares what you see. Always remember, no photo or portrait drawing will an the exact likeness of the figure. Just make the necessary adjustments and take your time. You show you have lots of potential.
